recording life story

I don't know about you, but I have had plenty of moments where I question myself--especially now owning a business. What makes me an expert at this life storytelling thing? Do people really need this?

There’s nothing wrong with questions if they help you redefine your goals, make a decision, or course correct. But when they stop you in your tracks, derail your confidence, and chip away at your self worth, it’s time to stop questioning. At some point, you have to ignore that fearful voice in your head and take the leap.

My friend Natalie from Pixologie Team and I recently took a leap and hosted our first Listening Date event, working with moms, sisters, and daughters to preserve their own memories. It was a DIY event –very hands on—and required not only that people show up but also participated. It’s been in the works for several months, a concept long before it was executed. Why did it take me so long to go through with it?

We all have those ideas that bash around in our heads, dying to get out, but never see the light of day because we’re afraid to move forward with them. I had so much doubt. Would people sign up? Would they share and learn with their loved one? Would they leave more connected? One of our participants, an adult daughter speaking on her experience with her mom, proved to me we hit a nerve.

memoir interview

“Today I got to interview my hero and it filled my heart with love and appreciation.”

I was incredibly nervous about the outcome, because it was much more than a one-time event. It validated everything Memoir for Me stands for: taking the time out of our busy lives to sit and listen to our loved ones—hear their story, appreciate it, and preserve it.

Thanks to everyone who came out and for your continued support. If you’re interested in attending an upcoming Listening Date in November, reserve your free ticket now.
