We like to celebrate milestones here in this business, whether it's a wedding anniversary, a birthday, or even a business incorporation. A recent client hired us to capture the history behind a local Chicago business, which is now 100 years in the making. What an honor and what a survival story, coming through World War II, the Great Depression, several recessions, and now a global pandemic.
Milestones celebrate achievements big and small, and they are always worth recognition. They invite us to look back on our lives, celebrate all the twists and turns that brought us to this point, and reflect on how we've changed in that time. We can also look ahead and be excited for milestones yet to come. As many of my clients will attest, just being alive after a certain age counts as an achievement, and I'm all for celebrating that!
Some of my favorite milestone questions include:
How have you (or your relationship) changed over the past X years?
What lessons have you learned?
Would you do anything differently knowing what you know now?
Think about the loved ones in your life. Is anyone hitting a milestone birthday in the coming year? Any couple in your life reaching a wedding anniversary worth noting? Celebrate those milestones! Give them the chance to reflect and tell their story of how they got there and what the view looks like from their vantage point. It's a priceless gift for both storyteller and their audience!
